À propos de Ibadon

Ibadon offers a simple way to receive confidential and inclusive STI and HIV services in Mali.

How to use Ibadon?

Ibadon is a website that allows you to book appointments for healthcare services in Mali so you can live a healthy life! Not sure which service is right for you? Start by taking our simple 10-question risk assessment, which will then recommend the right service for your needs. After booking, record your appointment information, the date and time you'll arrive at the clinic where you'll receive your services, and the next steps from your doctor.

Our services

Screening services:

  • HIV testing at the clinic:  Go to a clinic for a standard HIV thick drop test (with an HIV counselor)
  • Mobile HIV Testing:  Arrange a home or mobile visit for one of our peer navigators to meet with you in person to conduct an HIV test using just a drop of blood.
  • HIV Self-Test (OraQuick):  A simple oral fluid-based test that you can take home to self-test. A reactive self-test will need to be confirmed at a clinic.
  • STI Test:  Go to a clinic for a medical consultation if you have symptoms of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) for a diagnosis: Gonorrhea, Herpes, warts, and Syphilis.
  • Viral load test:  For people living with HIV, the viral load test measures the number of copies of the virus in the blood. This test can determine if the virus has been suppressed or become undetectable in the blood, and therefore not transmissible to others. Visit a clinic to get a viral load test.

Processing Services:

  • HIV Treatment:  For people living with HIV, Antiretroviral (ARV) medication is a single pill taken daily to clear the HIV virus from the body and allow you to live a normal life while preventing you from transmitting HIV to another person.
  • Treatment for STIs:  Consult a doctor at a Clinic for a correct STI diagnosis to receive a medical prescription for treatment.

Prevention and other services:

  • PrEP:  For people who test negative for HIV, HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a daily pill that protects you from HIV infection. (Truvada is available)
  • PEP:  For people who may have been recently exposed to HIV infection (within the last 72 hours), Post-Exposure Prophylaxis is available to prevent HIV from establishing an infection in the body. (ARVs are available.)
  • Tip:  Speak to a specialist online or book an appointment at one of our clinics for sexual health advice and other service needs.

Privacy and Data Use Policy

Client confidentiality is extremely important at Ibadon. Our administration, outreach staff, and counselors carefully care for clients and manage their information securely. Our partner clinics are accredited by the Ministry of Health and the National AIDS Control Program. Ibadon adheres to local health information standards.

When you use Ibadon, you will be asked for some information so we can help you identify the sexual health needs that best suit you and help you book appointments with our partner clinics. Learn more about how this data is protected.

  • Assess your sexual health needs on Ibadon.  Your individual risk assessment responses are kept confidential and are not shared with our client care staff or clinics. We do not collect any personally identifiable information during the risk assessment, so you will remain anonymous. Use the risk assessment to receive recommendations for our sexual health services based on your needs. The risk assessment will ask you to provide information such as your screening history, current HIV status, and other factors affecting your sexual health needs, such as your gender, sexual orientation, and other risk factors. All your responses will be kept confidential, and a summary of your data may be used to ensure the availability of our services for any individual and improve our outreach and service delivery.
  • Booking on Ibadon  To book an appointment, you will provide your name or nickname, phone number, and then select the department you want to book an appointment with. If you skipped the risk assessment, we will ask you a few additional questions such as your age (in years) and whether you belong to an underserved population (this is optional and is not shared with clinics.) Ibadon requires a valid phone number for each client in booking an appointment because our client care staff will contact them by phone to provide essential follow-up services such as treatment referrals.
  • What information does Ibadon share with clinics?  Ibadon shares some information with clinics to facilitate your appointment booking. This includes information you provide during the booking process, such as your name or nickname, phone number, requested services, and the date and time of your appointment. This information is used by clinic staff to confirm your appointment and verify your arrival time. Your risk assessment responses are not shared with the clinics.
  • What information do clinics share with Ibadon?  Ibadon staff caring for clients receive notification of client arrivals at the clinic so they can follow up with them by phone but will not know the clients' test results or other services provided by the clinics. Ibadon and the clinics have signed a confidentiality agreement on data sharing to allow the clinics to securely report client arrivals for their appointments, services provided during their appointments, and any test results. All reporting is completed in a secure, password-protected system accessed only by a data manager for reporting and service improvement purposes.
  • For added security,  Ibadon uses a host of security measures to protect its customers and the data stored on Ibadon, including the use of SQL programming language, an encrypted server, and password-protected user profiles.
